The first thing I’m going to talk about is trains because they’re awesome and thus worth mentioning.

Today was a pretty nice lazy saturday. I went to the zoo around noon and saw the giant pandas and tigers and bears (oh my). They also had a komodo dragon which was pretty awesome. I guess these posts aren’t very interesting, when all I do is normal stuff.
It was mad hot though. After the first hour or so, I was about to pass out. Saved, fortunately, by lunch in an ACed building. Also, saw some classic paddle boats. Some had swans. Tomorrow, yoyogi park and other cool stuff.
Did laundry in the evening, a pretty easy, albeit much too expensive process.

This is the section of japan know for it’s discount electronic stores and more to my interests, comic and hobby stores.
I went through a few computer stores and then went up and down the streets in search of all sorts of cool fan made comics and various other fare. That was pretty much my day. I also found a pretty awesome arcade. Spent a bit of time there. All these girls in maid outfits handing out fliers for their maid cafes. Pretty cool environment.
I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow, my previous plans seem null, I might go see a movie or something.
I’m taking import offers as well, someone should tell joep.
Today was pretty fun. I started off by trying to find the pokemon center. I failed. I will try again some other time. I don’t like asking for directions in Japanese because I feel I’m really inconveniencing people. Part of this trip is trying to break out of my aversion to speaking with natives, hopefully I break out of it soon.
Then I spent a great deal of time in Ikebukuro, wandering around half looking for the Animate head store which deals with character goods and all things anime. On my way there I went in and out of numerous arcades. (more…)
As per my schedule, today I explored two animation museums. It’s still hard navigating the city. I still get turned around in Boston from time to time, so I’m having to stay on my toes in order to get anywhere. This is a great spot to take a step back and talk about the Tokyo subway system. (more…)
So, I’m typing this from the free internets which they provide at the hostel which I’m staying. I didn’t bring my laptop as it’s more of a liability than anything, but there are plenty of computers to be used in general here in Japan, so I shouldn’t be too isolated.
The flight was long but uneventful, I slept some, had fairly decent airline meals, watched some movies, some tv, pretty uneventful. (more…)
Of course, I’m rushing around trying to get ready for this trip. Hopefully, everything works out okay. I have a 14 hour flight which gets me there around 3PM (2AM here). Won’t do much the first day but I should update this from time to time.
